Rhode Island rules for a solar floor

Telemarketer registration

Rhode Island requires some telephone sellers or telemarketers to register or be licensed before calling there. Telephonic sellers register with Attorney General 10 days before business. Check the exemptions before your floor dials Rhode Island.

R.I. Gen. Laws 5-61-3

Calling window

Rhode Island sets its own window: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It covers unsolicited sales calls by telephonic sellers to residential, mobile, pager numbers. Holidays: weekday state and federal holidays are excluded. Set the dialer to the narrower of the state and federal windows.

R.I. Gen. Laws 5-61-2(2), 5-61-3.6

Do not call list

The research found no separate Rhode Island do not call list. No state list; sellers keep company do not call lists. The National Do Not Call Registry still applies.

R.I. Gen. Laws 5-61-3.5(a)

Automated and recorded calls

Rhode Island has its own law on automated or recorded sales calls. Recorded message devices need consent or a live operator first. It can be stricter than the federal rules.

R.I. Gen. Laws 5-61-3.4

Recording calls

Rhode Island allows recording with one party's consent. A party to the call, or one party's prior consent.

R.I. Gen. Laws 11-35-21(c)(3)

Rhode Island requires covered telephonic sellers to register with the Attorney General before calling, allows unsolicited sales calls only 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and restricts recorded message devices.
