Ohio rules for a solar floor

Telemarketer registration

Ohio requires some telephone sellers or telemarketers to register or be licensed before calling there. Register with the Attorney General and file a surety bond. Check the exemptions before your floor dials Ohio.

Ohio Rev. Code 4719.02, 4719.04

Calling window

Ohio sets no narrower window in the statutes reviewed, so the federal 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. window at the homeowner's location applies.

47 CFR 64.1200(c)(1); Ohio Rev. Code 109.87

Do not call list

The research found no separate Ohio do not call list. Attorney General says Ohio has no separate do not call law. The National Do Not Call Registry still applies.

Automated and recorded calls

Ohio has its own law on automated or recorded sales calls. State law bars violating the TCPA and Telemarketing Sales Rule. It can be stricter than the federal rules.

Ohio Rev. Code 109.87(B)(1)

Recording calls

Ohio allows recording with one party's consent. A party to the call, or with one party's prior consent.

Ohio Rev. Code 2933.52(B)(4)

Ohio requires most telephone solicitors to register with the Attorney General and file a surety bond, requires sales disclosures within the first 60 seconds, and makes violating federal telemarketing rules a violation of Ohio law. It has no separate do not call law.
